VAN BUREN — The Women’s Clothing Drive giveaway starts Thursday after Crawford County Sheriff’s Office personnel and other volunteers spent weeks accepting donations.

The Sheriff’s Office collected gently used clothing donated by individuals and groups throughout November. Personnel worked with Hand to Hand Foundation of Alma and other nonprofits, according to Desaray Ganz, a criminal investigator with the department.

Now, women in need in the community can select clothes they need between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Crawford County Department of Emergency Management, 1820 Chestnut St. in Van Buren.

The site is southwest of Baptist Health-Van Buren.

This is the first year the Sheriff’s Office has coordinated the drive, according to Ganz.

The clothing drive ended Saturday, and all donated items have since been laundered and organized. Any clothing left over will be donated to local charitable organizations, Ganz said.
